Education Portfolio
Portfolio of workshops
This portfolio illustrates some of the topics, many of these can be adapted for different ages. Our sessions promote Education for Sustainable Development, STEAM and Sustainable Development Goals. Curriculum links – global citizenship, geography, English, science and life skills. The sessions help to underpin the schools mandatory DfE Climate Action Plan.
If you have any other topic in mind, do let us know as our Educators have a wealth of knowledge which is hard to contain in one document. We have the knowledge, and happy to share it!
Session Formats
Indoor Sessions
Inspiring Talks. Practical Learning. Real Action.
Our environmental educators deliver engaging, solutions-based sessions in flexible formats:
Assemblies: 10, 20 or 30 minutes
Classroom Sessions: Typically, 1 hour or to compliment your timetable
Eco Council Workshops: Action-planning sessions to make your school greener
Enrichment sessions with secondary and college pupils and supporting science festivals and careers events
Outdoor Education
Connecting Young People with Nature
We believe that solving the climate and ecological crisis begins with fostering a genuine love and appreciation for the natural world.
Whenever possible we like our our education sessions take place outdoors to allow pupils to:
- connect with and understand the importance of the natural world which we depend on
- strengthen their problem-solving
- develop their creativity and independence
These sessions can consist of one or two environmental educators for a half or full day with specific classes and topics (see portfolio below)
School Carousel Events
Whole-School Environmental Experience
These are usually full-day Carousel Events allow the entire school (depending on the number of classes) to participate in a rotating programme of interactive workshops to engage, inspire and educate.
- Schools choose 3 rotation workshops from a range of curriculum-linked topics
- We provide experienced educators and bring all materials needed
- Students rotate through multiple sessions in small groups
- Activities are hands-on, creative and discussion-led – outdoors /indoors
- The day concludes with sharing action plans with the pupils families and providing school actions to enhance their mandatory Climate Action Plan
Mobile Eco Float
Fun, interactive, outdoors
In the spring of 2021, thanks to two grants from the Sussex Community Foundation (Welton Foundation) and Horsham District Council Community Climate Fund we purchased and retrofitted a 1974 milk float into our eco float.
You have the option to book our interactive mobile float featuring:
- Informative environmental displays
- Practical demonstrations
- Hands-on activities
- Music system & awnings x 2 for shade or main
We drive or trail the float depending on your location, it has everything we need to lead our session – we just need a spot to park on your school grounds/venue!
