Community Eco Ocean Art Project and Art Trail during July 2019
For the third year running Sussex Green Living has run an eco art project, this year inviting anyone of any age to make a piece of art out of waste resources and then install surprize art and their own message in public locations. We have been busy delivering Plastic Free Sea lessons, assemblies and eco ocean art workshops in schools and children’s groups, some of this art has been included in the trail. Five WI groups in Horsham, plus a knit and natter group and a 7 year old boy have been busy knitting and have ocean yarn bombed the Horsham Carfax Bandstand. Plus lots of other contributions from Horsham Repair Cafe and Sussex Green Living volunteers.
This has culminated into art installations and messages in nineteen locations and an art trail for the month of July. 14 locations in Horsham, 3 in Billingshurst, 1 in Southwater and 1 at Bluecoats Sport at Christs Hospital. This Community Eco Ocean Art project, sponsored by Biffa and has empowered people aged 5 – 90 to get creative around communicating the problems of the planet and the solutions. It has been an outstanding inter-generational community project which we plan to repeat in 2020, when we hope Horsham District Council will be having a Year of Green Action!

Climate Action March in the Billingshurst Carnival 2019
On Sunday 26th June for the third year running we organised a carnival display to communicate the urgent need for people to make changes to live more sustainability. The carnival theme was ‘Tell us a story’, so our display was divided into ‘The story if no change’ and ‘The story if we change’, people of all ages got involved in making beautiful banners to communicate their messages, the procession included eight electric cars. Here are a few photos from the day.
