The climate emergency involves us all, but the good news is that we all have skills and information that we can share to improve our lifestyles and inspire others. Volunteer with us and join the Sussex Green Living community.
So whether you want to participate in our many events, especially the Bright New Future roadshow, recycle at one of our TerraCycle (single-use plastic) drop-off locations, or set up a new one, join one of our groups such as the Sussex Green Ideas group or Youth Eco-Forum, we’d love to hear from you.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Youth Eco Forum Co-ordinator and Volunteers
Since around June 2020, we’ve been overseeing a youth group comprising individuals aged 14 to 20, guided by a DBS-checked young adult mentor. Traditionally, they’ve held bi-weekly Zoom meetings and engaged in impromptu real-life projects like shop window displays and exhibits at Horsham Library. During the summer of 2023, they actively volunteered at the Sussex Green Hub and participated in public events on our Eco Float.
The group’s accomplishments include designing their own zines, one of which, funded by a RePower Balcombe grant, was printed and distributed to secondary schools across north and mid-Sussex. They successfully secured a grant and organised youth-focused events.
Members autonomously coordinate meetings and exchange ideas and updates through a WhatsApp group. The current leader of the Youth Eco Forum, Tash, has taken on a demanding full-time job, prompting the need for a new leader. If you believe you can contribute, please contact Carrie at . Meanwhile, the Youth Eco Forum will continue with less frequent Zoom meetings until a new leader is in place.
