Repair Cafe School Challenge

Reducing waste is key to creating an environmentally sustainable planet and one of the ways we can support this now is through repair cafés. Sussex Green Living have a schools’ challenge focused on raising awareness of Repair Cafes in our area.

The challenge is open to Horsham District Schools and school aged children in the District and has been supported by Horsham District Council Lottery Fund. The aims of the activity:

  • To educate and inspire students about repairs (one of our 8Rs to achieving zero waste and a circular economy)
  • To give students a voice in the climate conversation

Students taking part in the challenge will learn the why and how we repair as well as the benefits of repairing rather than throwing away. They will then research their local repair café and create a poster to promote it within their local community.

We have created a resource pack with classroom resources, as well as videos to educate, excite and inspire your students. There are resources for both primary and secondary aged students.

Any school aged children in Horsham District can take part, either through their school or as an individual entry.
