Come and join us this Saturday 28th November 10am – 4pm at the Horsham Fairtrade Christmas Market, St. John’s RC Church Hall in the centre of Horsham. It is at the end of West Street (behind the Olive Branch pub) just off of Springfield Road.
Sussex Green Living’s Green Stand will be selling goods made by and sold on behalf of the Philippine Community Fund. There will be stalls of unusual Fairtrade products from all over the world including jewellery, toys, clothing, wood carvings, stationary and much more: ideal Christmas presents for all which support third world producers and their communities. An all-day cafe will serve teas, coffees and home-made cakes.
In a bid to raise awareness of climate and environmental issues facing the local area, local residents will be holding a peaceful, family-friendly rally through Horsham on 29th November 2015 as part of the global ‘Time To Act’ Climate March taking place on that day, in advance of the COP21 Climate Summit in Paris from 30th November to 11th December 2015. This summit aims to reach a legally binding and universally agreed commitment to tackling climate change and reducing harmful emissions and marches will take place across the world in what is billed as the world’s largest climate protest. We are really excited to announce that the founder of Sussex Green Living, Carrie Cort has been nominated by a number of people for the BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey Community Heroes Awards! She is a finalist for the Green Champion Award and is off to the awards ceremony on Monday 30th November 2015 with her husband, 8 year old son (himself a green warrior) and nominators.

The Floral Fringe Fair 2015 is taking place on the weekend of 30th and 31st May 2015 at Knepp Castle, Shipley, Nr Horsham, West Sussex RH13 8LJ from 10.30 am to 5pm both days. Please note, this is NOT the bank holiday weekend! The fair is quirky and eclectic. It has a wildlife theme but also a vintage twist.

For the week commencing Monday 26th January, volunteers from the WSCC West Sussex Waste Prevention Advisors scheme, District and County employees, University Students and surprise guests will be talking complete rubbish from a Pop-up-Shop in the Swan Walk shopping centre, Horsham. Recycling a volunteers suggestion has led to the taking over of a vacant unit at the centre to showcase the skills and ingenuity of the team while promoting the West Sussex waste initiatives.
Christmas is an exciting time of year, especially for little people, however it is also a very wasteful time of year. The recycling bins tend to be overflowing (at best) and the household waste bins equally full. Here is one idea for reducing the waste in your recycling bin……

WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms), which holds its roots in East Sussex, is a global exchange organisation which links volunteers with organic farms, smallholdings, gardens, woodlands and even vineyards. In exchange volunteers receive food, accommodation and learning on the land.
