Water Matters event in Pulborough

July 16, 2014/in Eco News, Events/by Carrie Cort

PRESS RELEASE…..Meet the experts and get the conversation flowing about why Water Matters

A one-day event aiming to empower communities to deal with flooding, drought and other water issues is being held at Pulborough Village Hall  on 19 July 2014, 10am to 4pm.

Communities Matter is running the Water Matters event on behalf of the Arun and Rother Connections Project (ARC).

Experts will be providing information and help with issues of flooding, water resources, improving water quality and clever ways to use water at home and in the community.

Rachel Carless, ARC project manager says, “With the Rivers Arun and Rother on Pulborough’s doorstep, it seemed the perfect place to host the first Water Matters event in West Sussex.  There are many ways that people can get involved in their local environment and this event is a fantastic opportunity to find out more and get inspired.”

Nigel Greenwood, Director of Communities Matter says, “ Water is hugely important for us all and whilst much of the news is currently dominated by energy costs it is said that almost 1/3 of energy costs in this country relate to the way we use water. This first Water Matters Event is aimed at getting more people to think about how they can enjoy the rivers and wetlands around Pulborough, how they can cope with flooding, and also contribute to better management of water through how they use this valuable resource in their own homes and gardens.”

There will be information stands and talks about local water topics.  There will be time to sit with friends and neighbours at our Water Café and enjoy free drinks and refreshments.

Communities Matter will be circulating a survey to homes in the area in advance of the event to collect your thoughts on water and water use.  Please take a few minutes to fill in the survey and return it to Pulborough Village Hall at your earliest convenience.

Please contact with any questions or if you are keen to get involved.
