About Carrie Cort

My name is Carrie Cort, I set up Sussex Green Living out of concern for the way we humans are treating the planet which sustains us. With motherhood in 2008 came concern about environmental sustainability and a burning desire to learn how we can live more environmentally friendly lifestyles, in harmony with nature.

I have always had a passion for the countryside, animals and the natural environment. Most of my career has been spent in marketing and communications, mainly within education and the landbased industries, latterly using the power of video communications. In an effort to help create a climate for change I decided to use my knowledge and digital skills to share ideas which anyone can adopt, saving money and the planet.

I’m not an expert, just an ordinary person who is on a greening journey and wanting to pass on what I’ve learnt to others. Let’s all make some simple changes, become more resilient and try to lead simpler, less materialistic and consumerist way of life.

New Art Hub at the Sussex Green Hub

We are excited to announce thanks to a National Lottery Community Fund grant we have launched a new activity at the Sussex Green Hub led by ‘Em Makes’ read on….

As the weather turns colder, with the first signs of snow, December is fast approaching.  Shops are filled with bright baubles and tinsel and everywhere we go, there are signs that Christmas is coming.  At each shop we are encouraged to buy this, buy that, spend more!!!

But if you, like me, would prefer to give something more special, more personal, and know that your gift has been made with something pre-loved, with a story, and possibly by your own hands at our monthly Art Hub at the Sussex Green Hub.

Here we provide a creative space where you can connect, create and make a difference by giving new life to something old.  Each last Saturday of the month (with the exception of December) we offer a wide range of resources and inspiration, and you are welcome to come and join us.  All ages are welcome at this free drop-in-event – creativity and self expression know no age limit!  You can join us for one of our workshops, bring ideas to share, or enjoy a cuppa and a cake, sit back and carry on with your own creative work.

Sussex is Really Buzzing

March 7, 2024/in Biodiversity & Nature, Eco News, Ecology, Education, Events, Fundraising, Take Action/by Carrie Cort

Getting Sussex Buzzing again!

Sussex is really buzzing in 2024 thanks to exciting new collaborations between Sussex Green Living and local businesses: a new way of combining practical solutions to current and future environmental issues with community outreach, fundraising and business wellbeing. The Pollination Education Stations and Green Business Network have been developed in collaboration with Billingshurst based agency PMW Communications as part of their generous gift of pro bono work with 30 local charities to celebrate their 30 years in business.

One week after Sussex Green Living launched these new endeavours at the Sussex Green Hub, the first Pollination Education Station (PES) has been installed. Horsham based business, Envitia Ltd, a digital and data services company based in Horsham, will focus on one charity each quarter and on Monday 4th March, as part of their fundraising and collaboration with Sussex Green Living, they set up their Pollination Education Station, a haven for pollinators, with a community herb bed and an information board.

Why the UK Energy Price Hikes & Energy Shortages?

July 20, 2022/in Climate change, Energy, Green Suppliers/by Carrie Cort

Why the UK Energy Price Hikes and Energy Shortages? Its our reliance on imported fuels, rather than developing the huge tidal and wind resources we have around this island. Most UK homes are still heated by gas and many are woefully under insulated. Multiple factors are behind the gas price increases. Geopolitical pressures, including high demand […]
