The Floral Fringe Fair 2014

April 4, 2013/in Children & nature, Eco News/by Carrie Cort

Knepp Castle 2014

Date: Sat 31st May – Sun 1st June 2014

Venue: Knepp Castle, West Grinstead, West Sussex, RH13 8LJ

The Floral Fringe Fair is a traditional outdoor event on a county estate.  The Fair aims to inspire people to make their gardens wildlife friendly.

What visitors said about the event in 2013 “A quirky, foodie, arty, plantaholics wildlife event with a vintage twist!”

Set on the 1,416 hectare Knepp Estate which is the subject of an amazing Wildland Project.

The fair is prettily positioned in front of the John Nash designed Knepp Castle, built in 1806 for the present occupants, The Burrell Family.

The Fair has a wildlife theme and features over 80 stalls of specialist nurseries, contemporary crafts, vintage collectibles, local food producers as well as experts on butterflies, honeybees, bumblebees, birds and bats.  A range of food to suit everyone, pop-up vintage tearooms, local ale tent, real burger barbecue with meat from the Knepp Estate, freshly baked wood-fired oven pizzas, cooked as you wait vegetarian organic bhajis and pakoras,  local ice cream and many food stalls from which to buy a picnic to eat by the beautiful lake.

Entry £6.50 adults, children under 14 free. Floral Fringe 2014
The first two occupants of a classic car get in for the reduced price of £5.50. Dressing in vintage style especially welcome! Beautiful lakes to picnic beside. You will be able to buy all of your picnic from our local food producers at the fair.  Dogs on leads.

Directions to Knepp Castle can be found at www.knepp.co.uk.

Knepp Castle is the subject of an unusual re-wilding project and there will be the chance to learn more about this. Also there will be the opportunity during the fair to visit the private walled garden at Knepp Castle, designed by Georgia Langton and to meet both Georgia and the gardeners.
