News from the Horsham Repair Cafe

May 13, 2020/in Climate change, Eco News, Events, Repair Cafe/by Carrie Cort

Sorry to say that the Horsham Repair Café will not be physically opening for our once a month repairs, refills and energy advice for a while. However we have reviewed the situation and are now going to trial a weekly repair service which will run alongside the household and personal hygiene bottle refill service. We can offer repairs to small electrical household and IT items only at the moment. This drop off and collection service will be offered each Saturday between 10-12 noon (with suitable covid social distancing and product handling restrictions).

Please book in your item by completing our online booking form here, we will then email to confirm the procedure and location for drop off. Please note that we are not able to repair any textiles for the foreseeable future.

Costs:

Electrical repairs – our volunteer repairer will assess the item and inform you if there is a need to purchase any parts. If you agree to the costs on collection you will be asked to pay for the costs, a voluntary donation to the Horsham Repair Café is optional.

Computer repairs – these will be carried out by Cliff Jackson from Easyline Comms. If the problem can be resolved over the phone or within half an hour of looking at the item they are carried out on a voluntary basis. Often computer repairs involve parts and can be quite time consuming. If it can not be fixed in half an hour with no parts, prior to undertaking any work Cliff will provide a quote to you, on acceptance of the costs he will carry out the work. On returning the item repaired he will raise an invoice for any parts and his agreed time which you will need to pay direct to Easyline Comms. On collection of the item from the Quaker Meeting House on an agreed day and time, if you would like to give a donation to the Horsham Repair Café that is your choice.

Other Horsham Repair Café services:

The refill service is currently being offering as a doorstep collection for those in need and drop off and collect at Quaker Meeting House with refill times Wed and Sat 10-12 every week.

To learn more email  or call Helen on 07941 338169 or visit www.horsham-refill.com. Sorry we can not currently offer any food refill services.

Switching to green energy and saving money

At the Horsham Repair Café we offer an energy switching service, helping people save money and change to clean green renewable energy. Although we cannot offer this in person you can still secure your own cost comparison by using our switching site here https://bigcleanswitch.org/sussexgreen/. Everyone we have switched has saved between £90 and £366!
